To all of you who have served, THANK YOU!! My own military life was brief (thank the Lord!), but it was during a time of trouble for our nation, with people protesting the war, and some people thinking it was OK to spit on those who were coming home. I know this for a fact, as I was one who had to endure the pure hatred of the time. So, to my fellow veterans, thank you for your service. "All gave some; some gave all." A sentiment that should not be lost in these politically troubling times.
Also, for those of you who have served and feel as if you don't really belong, I urge you to join one of the organizations created by fellow vets that can give you a feeling of belonging, whether it is the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marine Corps League, or any other veterans' association. You will find others who have gone through what you have and will give a sympathetic/empathetic ear to you. Or, by joining, you may save another vet from making a decision that cannot be undone.
