I'm checking up on a lot of European and particularly English history of the 1400 and 1500s and its influence on English behavior by the likes of Henry VIII. This was an amazing turbulent period and the only fair play was any play. There were no Machiavelli moves by England or France or Spain in this period. It was all a totally blunt conflict with the goal of forcing England into submission. Which is why the English are so stubborn and proud of their history.
