Weekend Update - Nov 2

Hello readers,

I'm happy to say, I've had a much better week in terms of writing than last week. Things are back on track and flowing nicely again. Let's discuss a few things.

This week featured the end of Episode 3 of Science Club, The Room Drama. Overall, I think people seem to like the story on the whole and the way the characters are developing. This series was always going to be challenging to both write and read, because there's so many characters and subplots running throughout multiple episodes. One reader suggested a description page, listing character attributes like height, race, etc. I think that's a great idea. I'm going to try to add that when I start writing Episode 4 in the near-ish future. In fact, I might try to lean further into the TV esthetic and do a 'Previously on' recap of key plot and character info necessary for that Episode. The whole thing might be a page long, but it'll posted as it's own chapter and labeled as such, so you can skip it if you want. That's the plan at least. Let me know your thoughts, or if you have suggestions of your own. Oh, thank you everyone for the feedback and comments on this series. I asked you and you delivered, keep it coming.

We also had another chapter of Jane Finds Herself, which I suspected might prove to be divisive. I'm wondering what people's thoughts were on Chapter 17 (and part of 16). I know this story hasn't really dealt with anything like that before, usually it has been fun and cheery. I wanted the reader to feel as tired and drained as Jane felt by the time she went down that fire escape and back to her room. Chapters won't always be like this, but I will warn that things might not always go perfectly as Jane thinks they will.

That's the end of this block of 5 (actually 7) chapters for Jane Finds Herself, what comes next? What's the next story I have cooking for Saturdays, you're probably asking yourselves. Well, I decided to do something different. I said a while ago that if Chapters 6 through 10 did well, then I would guarantee Chapters 11 through 20, as they fed into each other. Well, we're going to keep going with that premise, so Riley's visit starts next Saturday. Over the next... rest of the year really, Jane Finds Herself will keep going. I'm kind of curious what will happen when I let a story just run for a long stretch, so it's kind of an experiment. Let's see how this all plays out.

One unfortunate thing is there will be no Wednesday story for the next few weeks. It's kind of a bummer, but that's just how things go. I still haven't missed a Saturday in a year and a half of posting, but mid-week stuff is subject to change. That being said, for those interested, Family Reunion will be the next thing back. I've now have a few chapters done and I'm just waiting to confirm the date. Then I'll let you know exactly when it'll start back up again. People seemed excited and interested in more, I hope I can deliver the goods.

That's it for this week. I hope you all have a good week and read some fun stories. As always, if you have any suggestions or feedback, let me know via the comments or email. I hope you have a great week. Thanks for reading.
