Another week and another blog, let’s go.
This has been a strange week for me, where I didn’t get as much writing done as I would have liked. Some of that came from personal timing and plans, but another factor came from an unlikely place, the forums here on SOL.
Normally I’m just a lurker, reading little updates and snippets of information on what people like and don’t like, or general sentiments about the site. It can be helpful for ideas and learning from mistakes of others, but typically I don’t participate. One thread though got my attention; it was about the shear amount of ‘dreck’ posting on the site and the prevalence of extreme sex stories. It devolved, as forums generally do, into other topics including there being too many sex stories on the site deleting low-scoring stories.
I won’t bore you too much with the details, check out the thread for yourself if you’re interested. But it did come about that this site wasn’t planned for sex stories, but just a site that allows sex in stories. Laz, the site administrator, confirmed this but noted that sex stories drive traffic, so he allows it, but it isn’t something he particularly enjoys hosting (probably fair due to the issues he’s had this year).
Anyway, I got pretty upset hearing this, as a purveyor of primarily sexually explicit content. I am not a good writer, I know this, so I can’t exactly transition to a ‘no sex’ author (read Teacher’s Pet or the Winter’s Bite stories for proof in low sex stories). I nearly posted a blog about rethinking my presence here on SOL. It wasn’t until late one night that I thought, I follow the rules, why shouldn’t I be able to post here? Heck, most of my content is pretty safe for most sites really (beyond some students being in a High School setting). But yeah, I nearly clocked out since it seemed that my type of writing isn’t exactly wanted around here. I calmed down eventually and got back to work, but I lost a few days there, which sucks.
I am working on the next Episode in the Science Club series, which is going well. Now that Episode 2 – Aftermath is done, what are people’s thoughts on it? It’s been pretty quiet for feedback on this series and would love to know if people are liking it still or if there are things that could be improved.
Next week, there won’t be anything posted on Wednesday unfortunately. This was due to a story failing and then a mad scramble to write something new. That new short story will start the following week and will last for three weeks. It wraps up well enough, but there is room for more if demand is there, but I’ll talk more about that next week.
Saturday, of course (or unfortunately depending on your point of view), has another chapter of Trapped at a Sex Party. This one clearly hasn’t hit well for people, but there’s only a few more weeks to finish before we return to Jane Finds Herself, so come back for that please?
