This entry is more an apology than anything else. Two of my continuing stories are either in, or about to enter, the dread "incomplete and inactive" state. Trust me, neither one of them has been abandoned, but I just haven't been able to find the time to write more than a few words here and there. I have simply been slammed with real-world work, so writing has had to be pushed to the side.
By trade I am a software developer, doing everything from initial analysis through to architecture design, database design, all the code, and finally testing and implementation. Many of my clients were government funded, and my work came to a screeching halt during COVID, and for a year afterward, as funding had been yanked to fight that horrible disease. That meant that I had a lot of time to write, and did so.
In the past year, however, those projects that had nearly been canned have now come back to life with a roaring vengeance, and I have been madly multiplexing to deal with all of them. I fully expect to be buried for the remainder of this year. Unfortunately, that means my writing has suffered badly. It will come back -- my muse hasn't died, nor has she vanished or abandoned me. I often fall asleep thinking through story arcs, but getting all that down in a word processor is a lot of work, and takes a lot of time, especially with editing and re-reading and checking the continuity and logic.
So, again, bear with me. The words will come at some point, and I will pick up the stories just where they left off.
Cheers
