Strange title to a film noir story in the Mike Hammer tradition. Lam is slang for avoiding the authorities. I could have said, "Mike Takes a Powder" which means basically the same thing. I started this story at the very beginning of my writing career. I was writing three different "Mike" stories at that time. This story starts in a combat zone and moves to Los Angeles/Hollywood area with side trips up to Reno and Los Vegas. Those are all areas that I am familiar with having spent a big chunk of my life there. Of course, the PTSD afflicted Mike is back in the game as a Private Detective, although he likes to be called a "Confidential Investigator". The bad guys are a murky bunch of insiders that have cornered the call girl market and drug distribution business on the West Coast preying on innocent young girls with stars in their eyes. He gets involved with a Secretary (Velda type) with a young daughter (17 years old) in a three way slice of the dirty side of life with pleasure as their main goal in a world obsessed with sex. He is not in love with either of them but he will defend them with his life if necessary. Should be about 20 chapters total Now writing chapter 9. Sorry to leave it perking in my brain housing group so long but things happen.
