This week with Arlene and Jeff:
...A little later, Diana found her husband in the living room and sat in his lap. "You're going to let your daughter and Ann go off to Mars to be gone all day? They'll be practicing for a parade, and you know she will make it as exciting as she can, which will mean they will be flying close to each other, and no telling what other things they will be doing. Aren't you worried?"
Jeff almost teased her but realized how serious she was. "Baby, whether we realize it or not, Arlene, Ann and all the other aviators are combat veterans. Flying in formation is something their AIs can do without using one percent of the AI's capabilities. And… if Arlene is piloting herself, the AI will drop in to keep her from making a fatal mistake. Those interceptors have more fail-safes than you would ever believe. In addition, our daughter is no fool, and neither is Ann.
"I worried about them when they were fighting the Paladins and flashing from one place on Earth to another at a quarter-light, but no matter how breathtaking she intends to make this parade, just remember, they aren't being shot at now, and the pace of the parade will be that of a snail compared to what they have been accustomed to during combat.
"But you should check on them, at least."...
Have a goodun;
