This week with Arlene and Jeff:
...The Captain sat reading through the data concerning Vilia 4, the primary planet in the Ticichi system and the newly formed Union of the Axis.
The Khols was a conglomeration of pirates from several races that were never entirely stamped out, no matter how many raids the Federation undertook to do just that. When the Federation would finally find the Khols and attack in force, the pirates would scatter and slip away. After a year or two, they would reappear, usually in another system, seemingly stronger than ever before.
"Shit, another boring mission," the First groused when the Captain copied the orders to the First's screen for him to read. "We would never be lucky enough to find the bastards. They always seem to know where Federation forces are and hit somewhere else."
"Navigator," the First Officer said, "plot a course for Vilia 4, the Capitol planet of the Ticichi system."
"Vilia 4 of the Ticichi System," the Navigator repeated.
"Probably so this time, too," the Captain continued, "but on second thought, drop us into the system well out from its primary. We'll observe for a while before we make our presence known. Maybe - just maybe - we'll get a chance at the pirates before they realize we're coming."
"Navigator, make our exit point at the edge of the system - say roughly 40 AU's from the primary on the opposite side of the system from Vilia 4. We want to observe for a while without being seen. With luck, we might even be able to surprise the pirates."
"Exit warp 40 AU's from the primary on the opposite side of the system from Vilia 4," the Navigator repeated...
Have a goodun;
