This week with Arlene and Jeff:
...When they entered the training area, the aliens were nervous, even though they had toured the room before. "Each of you choose a couch," Jeff instructed. "It doesn't matter which one you choose, and you don't have to use the same one the next time. The couches are just that - couches where you can lie back and relax your body while your mind takes up your duties at Ship's Academy. When you enter the Academy, she will give you a memory quite different from your own background. It will seem real, and for all practical purposes, it will be.
"Go ahead," he instructed, motioning, "lie down and try out a couch. The choice doesn't matter - they are all the same. Ship tells me that the first Academy session will last for six weeks Academy time, after which, you will be given a break."
There were several comments from the aliens about the couches being super comfortable.
When they all settled in, "Nighty night," the Prime said with a grin as he gave Ship permission to begin.
"Wha…" the First managed as he and the others slumped into a deep sleep.
"How long will they be out," Jeff asked Ship.
"I have divided the first six weeks of the Academy into three, two-hour segments. Every two hours our time, I will allow them to return to a semi-awake state to use the restroom and eat a light meal. They will, of course, not remember anything other than the Academy. After the first six weeks Academy time, I will give them a longer break before returning to the Academy to continue their education. That routine will continue until they complete their training, just as I did and am continuing to do with you and your wives...
Have a goodun;
Roust
