This week with Arlene and Jeff:
...Jeff stepped through the hatch to the pocket planet, feeling the odd sensation as he did so. After wandering around for a moment, he encountered one of the engineers.
The Miadax officer came to his version of "Attention."
"As you were," Jeff responded automatically. "Can you tell me where the First is?"
"Certainly, Sir," he returned with an accent so intense that Jeff could barely understand him. "He is in the…" The engineer stumbled to a halt for a second before saying, "Please follow me."
A couple of moments later, the engineer held a door open for Jeff. "Lounge," Jeff said. "The Earth word you were looking for is lounge or rec room. A place to relax, socialize and even eat or drink something."
"I have had the language mapped to my brain only a short time. I apologize, and I will practice, Sir." At least Jeff thought that's what the engineer said...
