Ahh yes, every writers favourite bugbear- Scoring. So, 'The night is dark' seemed to have been strangely popular, and I have absolutely no-idea why given the direction it was released in. Work is slowly progressing on additional chapters, but in the meantime I decided to release some of the backstory's of some characters as separate stories. Partly to keep content flowing and partly because I'm not 100% sure if releasing it all in 'one' story makes it easier to read, what with chopping and changing characters and all that.
Anyway, back on topic. I was expecting the average of scores to be the same, after all, same writer and all that, but apparently not. Catherine seems to have pushed a lot of buttons for a lot of readers and the scoring is quite impressive as I have managed to get multiple votes in all categories except '2' which currently has none. Why no-one likes '2' is a bit peculiar. '4' seems popular though.
So for all those that voted '1' thanks for taking the time to vote, and yes, I do 'call it a story', thanks, LOL.
As dubiously helpful as a scoring system of 1 to 10 is, it doesn't really answer why a story is good or bad. Which IS helpful. So if you like a character or hate something, (characters, sentence structure, prose, whatever) please feel free to comment as such. I do read and try to take on-board the more technical comments, but I've not always been very successful.
I've been loitering on this site since late 2002 (1,933Kb of stories on here and climbing!) and I have noticed a distinct reduction in reader feedback over the last few years. Which given the ability for readers to comment on the stories themselves now, I find rather surprising. So comments of how to make stories 'more enjoyable' are always going to be greatly appreciated. Even simple comments like 'more/less sex' is helpful, maybe you want more character detail, or more guns, or more Furbee action, whatever, let me know.
I might start a new quirk, where those that comment interesting informative replies (good or bad), become characters in forthcoming works. We shall see.
Oh, for anyone that cares/is interested current story stats are as follows;
SM- 801 downloads-15 votes-6.40 score
Cat- 1446 downloads-52 votes- 5.89 score (Yeah, Cat really hit peoples buttons…LOL)
TNID- 1936 downloads-49 votes-7.39 score
So far a total of 6 comments- one of which was me replying. Not a lot of feedback for 4183 reads, that's what, one reply for every 836 readers? Probably just as well I don't do this for money… LOL
