Military ranks in the Empire (Ground Force)

Posted at

For those who asked.

Trooper = private.
Specialist = private first class.
Junior Monitor = corporal.
Monitor = sergeant.
Senior Monitor = sergeant major.

Non-com ranks are a bit more specialised in Ground Force as in more responsibility. A junior monitor doing what a junior lieutenant would do, a Monitor doing what a lieutenant would do and the Senior Monitor equivalent to a captain. All take extra responsibility giving GF a great deal of flexibility.

Officers begin with Cadet = an officer trainee, no real rank at all, not allowed to command anyone except other cadets.
Tribunes = Lieutenant.
Optios = captain.
Prefects = major.
sub-Commanders (the rank where specialists usually resided) = lieutenant colonel.
Commanders = colonel.
Senior Commanders = brigadier general.
Marshalls = major general.
High Marshall = general.
There are not many actual officers in the Ground Force per number of enlisteds.
