I have finally managed to lure my muse back and chain her to my desk, amidst many giggles on her part. Sadly, this is not a fun, happy story. It starts with a mass shooting, so trigger warning. While sadly apt for today's mass shooting environment, the story was originally started after the Kenyan mall shooting in 2013. There are no similarities to that tragedy beyond inspiration.
Please note, some of the characters, ships and situations referred to in this story are from my previous stories. This is the story of the shooting referenced in The Enemy Within. The stories Growing Up and The Enemy Within take place at the same time and the characters wind up on the same ship. All the stories inter-lock, with the thought being every group on the transport, the Heracles, should get their own story. The same situations will be told from multiple points of view. Since I am referencing to those stories, especially in the second and third chapters, I suggest rereading them first to refresh your memory.
The colony they are destined for is Frigia, in the Mongo-at system. This is the colony given to Governor Char, the main character in Acceptance and Aftermath. That will link all these stories together. Another person who was assigned to Frigia is Becky Snow from Amateurs. I have several more stories coming that will fully link the characters together (hopefully). It mostly depends if my muse can escape from her chains again and skitter off into the sunset like she did a few years ago.
