The question of the missing universe

Posted at

In the description of my story "In The Long Run", I mentioned that it is the founding story of my "It's always the Germans" universe

Yesterday I got a somewhat angry sounding comment that said universe doesn't exist and that I should contact the admins if I'm too dense to link stories into a universe.

Now here's my conundrum: The person gets two points for noticing that there's no link to that universe (yet), and that's quite deliberate. The story sets up the universe and introduces people who will appear in later stories. However, it is still in progress and current chapters are set in 1993. The other stories will start between 1998 and 2004, so I thought it wouldn't make sense to publish the universe link already, with just one story in it and others yet to start.

Was that the right approach or should I set up the link anyway?

IKEA, there's business heading your way...

Have you ever lost a 4.000 word chapter because you were too bloody stupid to press CTRL+S once in a while. Well, I am. I was on an complete roll today. Stuff basically wrote itself after weeks of writers block. And then I went to highlight the changes for final editing - program hangs, crash.

I feel like destroying some furniture...
