I know, I'm pointing out the obvious. Climate is what we expect, weather is what we get. In our case, everyone knows it gets either warm or hot in the summer, depending upon how close to the equator you are. (Well, except Greta, but hey, that's another topic for discussion.)
I'm at 35.42N, basically Kirkuk, Iraq, or Tehran, Iran. It hit 106 yesterday (41.1 for those of you on the other side of one of the ponds), and it's going to be in that vicinity for the next 10 days or so. So, my public thanks to Willis Carrier.
Oh, and I'm almost done with Chapter 4. (Edit to add - Book 5, Chapter 4 - so a long way to go.) I'd be further along but I'm like everyone else - Rollie posted that he'd put up a cleaned up version of 'A Fresh Start' so I had to spend three days reading that (again) and Phil Brown posted 'Lightning in a Bottle' and I had to take a day to read that.
Now to get back to destroying UCLA on the football field.
I just realized today was Thursday, and I'm not making a post about a new chapter being uploaded for Saturday. That feels rather weird, to be quite honest. I'm almost done with Chapter Two of Book Five, and it should be heading to the editors this weekend.
So, my goal is sometime between Halloween and Christmas to start posting Book Five. I'm not - at this time - planning on there being (or needing to be) a Book Six. The destruction of Earth and deaths of everyone should pretty much take care of that. (Well, okay, that may not happen.)(Probably won't, actually, but I had to give you a start, after all.)
No, I don't have a Patreon or other site where you can read things in advance. No, at this time, I have three editors, so unless something happens to one of them, I don't need another one. Yes, I do appreciate the comments - even the snarky ones - and everyone knows I respond to emails.
The Home Depot and Lowes nearby are running a special on torches and pitchforks, so you be properly equipped for storming my house. Also, if you're going to scream loudly, do it at noon, so it'll be hidden by the weekly tornado siren tests.
In all seriousness, this has been a blast, and I'll get Book Five out as soon as I can, but not before it's ready.
I'm working on a TRR (Treatments, Repairs, and Replacements) on one deal, I have a final walk-through this afternoon with closing tomorrow on another.
Wow, that rhymed! Does that mean I'm a poet and didn't know it? Okay, maybe not. I'll be busy this weekend doing something we haven't seen for a while - hosting an open house both Saturday and Sunday. Basically, my clients need to sell immediately.
My brand new steel shed didn't like the 80 mph wind gusts that came through night before last, so it decided to imitate a French general, and laid down on its back. I hadn't had time to get it secured to the ground - too damn many landscaping projects. Once the backyard dries out - we did get a LOT of rain, too - I'll get out there and stand it back up.
Speaking of landscaping projects, both the local Lowes and Home Depot have said they've had a run on pitchforks, torches, hoes, and axes. Something about preparation for storming some hanging cliff next Saturday, or something like that. Blücher! (My readers whinny and cry in fright!) Have a good weekend, and remember, nothing can go wrong, go wrong, go wrong...
I just uploaded Chapter 28 for Saturday morning. At least this doesn't end in a cliffhanger, just a meeting. The current plan is to start posting Book 5 sometime between Halloween and Christmas. No, I can't be any more specific than that. Disturbingly enough, I'm actually doing real estate work, so my job is taking up a lot of my time. (I know, who would've thought?)
Since I am in the United States of America, this upcoming Monday is a national holiday. It's Memorial Day, the start of summer, parties, and cookouts. It's not a day for me - I'm a living veteran. It's the day to pause and give thanks to all those men and women who served their country in the military and have given the last full measure of their devotion to freedom. Render them the honors they are due.
