You guys are great, I really appreciate all of the feedback on building a backstory for Sam. Everyone's feedback was great. Oh, and thanks to so many of you for your service.
Chapters 1 and 8 received minor tweaks to help with later consistency. Probably not anything you should worry about missing.
Chapter 9 is done, and being looked at by a couple other pairs of eyes. I'll probably post it later today unless there are significant problems I don't see.
Thanks,

If you are a Vietnam Veteran, or if you feel knowledgeable about the subject, please drop me a note.
I have a few questions to help me flush out a character.
My apologies, I got some files mixed up and somehow uploaded a leaner version of chapter 8. The correct version is in the cue.
Whew,
That was more work than I expected. First off, if you aren't happy with having to re-read the chapters, you don't need to. There are no changes that will make just continuing the story with the next chapter difficult. The only thing that might be worth noting is that John and Kim had a second date inserted in front of the one you already read about. Everything ended right where you left off.
For those interested in the changes. Every chapter got a little TLC and saw some real improvement. I think chapter 1 is much better now, I made a lot of progress in improving the formatting and in making his ability much more clear and hopefully more understandable. Chapters 5 and 6 both saw significant changes, with 6 almost doubling in content.
A reader correctly pointed out that any winnings over $600 would have needed to go the the Lottery main office in the state he was in. That made complete sense to me, so instead of just cashing in the prize and going shopping on Saturday, now my lead characters had to wait until Monday to do that. I decided to give them a second date to solve the problem.
Overall I think if you enjoyed the story so far, you will find re-reading it worth doing.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Hi guys,
Everywhen is going to be a long story. I have a lot of things I want my characters to do and I've really just barely started. However, as an inexperienced new writer I've pushed out content before it was ready. I feel I have really grown a lot in just the short time I've been doing this.
I want the story to be a good one, and that means I need to spend some time and fix some things in the chapters I've already created to get them up to snuff. I've been editing some of the most glaring problems as I noticed them (or had them pointed out... thanks guys). But I wont be happy until I get everything up to a level I want them at.
I'm sure by the time I'm done with the story I will feel the need to do another cleanup at that point, but that is a worry for another day. I can't wait that long to do this. It would bug me too much.
I'm not taking anything down, and I'm not intending any substantive changes to the story. I'm just going to focus on fixing everything in the previous chapters before I get into writing the next chapters.
I plan to get it all worked out and repost it all at once, then get back to working forward again. It shouldn't take too long, you should be able to expect to see new content again later this week.
