Suppose a person can create gateways like in Orson Scott Card's Mythermages books. Now imagine an open box with a handle inside ten feet away. You can create a gate over the box from where you stand. You can reach through the gate and pick up the box. Now imagine the box enclosed completely. You can create the gate inside the box and still grab the handle. Can you lift the box with the gate inside if the gate is affixed to the inside top? I would like to say yes, but I don't know for sure.
