Well, back home in Florida after the rushed trip back to Australia. I was initially worried that I wouldn't make it back to Coffs Harbour before my mother died, but when we arrived she was still conscious. I could see just how happy she was to see us; but sadly a few days after I got there, her kidneys shut down, and she passed away on the Saturday after I arrived. But no serious suffering, just a quiet, peaceful passing in her sleep. I did have to write her obituary, and write and deliver a eulogy - one of the most difficult pieces of writing I have done in my life. Now, after a 30 hours series of flights back to Florida - and no sleep on the planes - I am home.
I appreciate all the thoughts, prayer and best wishes from everyone. Thank you
Sadly, there will be a delay before I have the next chapter of "Lisa" available. My parents (back in Australia) have been rather unwell all of this year, and last weekend my mother took a turn for the worse. So I'm about to jump on a plane and fly back to be with them. I expect to be there for 2 or 3 weeks, and probably won't have the opportunity to do any writing.
I was never really happy with the introduction to the series; it was a short lead in to the first story, with a bit of explanation to some Australian terms and living conditions at the time of the story, to explain things to those readers from other countries.
Anyway, I've expanded it considerably, giving a lot more background to some of the main characters and events leading up to the first story - without tossing in any spoilers, I hope.
Enjoy.
Don't worry,I'm still working on the next few chapters of "Lisa".
It appears there was a duplicate posting, or something. I've reposted chapter 17, and I'll check the site later today to see if everything has fixed itself.
Sorry for the stuff up
