Chapter 682 of Book 3 is in the queue

This week with Arlene and Jeff:

...“We help her when we can,” Jennie continued, “but she seldom asks. Melissa and I have taken over the food inventory in the walk-in freezer, refrigerators and pantry. Believe me, even with the AI’s help, it’s a hassle to keep the food rotated so nothing gets buried and becomes too old. Arlene and Ann used to help a lot, but with them running the wing and training, there isn’t much time left for them to assist our Clan Queen now.”

Jeff finished his roll and leaned back in his seat. “It seems that my instinct is dead on. You two are already working in the direction I need – or more correctly, Diana needs.”

“Jeff, I…” both young women said as one, but Jeff waved for them to wait while he searched mentally for the best way to proceed.

“I, at first, hinted that Di needed an assistant, but I got no response. Then later, I told her that she needed an assistant. No matter what I did, she didn’t appoint anyone. Finally, it dawned on me why.”

Both young women just looked at him.

“I think she felt there would be suspicions of favoritism if she appointed someone.”

Both just sat there almost stone-faced as the seconds slowly ticked away.

“Dammit, do I have to spell it out? I want the two of you to be her assistants. And not just someone who does something if she asks. I want each of you to take over major aspects of our Clan Queen’s work – which to a certain degree will also have a measure of authority to go with it. Ah, that’s not the right word, but I don’t want to say work, but perhaps duty would fit the subject better. Bottom line: would you two take over some of the Clan Queen’s duties so I can assign her to be in charge of the family’s training?”...

This week with Arlene and Jeff:

...Jeff came to his feet. “I have things to do. What say we return to our training schedule starting at eight tomorrow morning?”

“We have flight training in the morning, so let’s meet out back at seven. That way Ann and I can be there to help,” Arlene suggested.

Jeff looked toward his Clan Queen, who smiled and said, “The hot bar will be ready at six as usual.”

“Okay with you guys?” Jeff asked, directing his question at Morales and his wives.

“We’ll be there at 5:30 to help with breakfast,” Jasmine responded. “As far as training goes, hopefully, we didn’t lose too much in the days we were off. We couldn’t jog outside safely, so we got up early, donned our headlamps and mostly jogged to the ice cave and back. There were places where it was still too rough to jog, but with your having moved most of the boulders out of the way, Jeff, we managed while scrambling past the bad areas as fast as we could. I guess it became our own little obstacle course.”

“Yeah, and we had the skinned knees and elbows to attest to it,” Christine said with a grimace as the rest chuckled...

This week with Arlene and Jeff:

...Late in the afternoon, the two met Glenda and Karl in the hallway just before the entrance to the dining room. As they greeted each other, the other four guests walked out, smiled and spoke to them, asking Dessie and Phillip how their backpacking trip had gone. After a brief conversation, the guests went on to their suites and Dessie, Phillip, Karl and Glenda went into the dining room and over to the hot bar where they chose their meals.

Mia came out and asked if they minded if she ate with them. Of course they didn’t, and the group sat to eat and talk.

“So, tell us about your trip,” Karl insisted.

“Nothing much, other than getting struck by lightning,” Dessie said while trying to keep her face straight.

That led to a grilling by the other two. “Well, we didn’t exactly get hit by the bolt. It hit the tree that we had put our tent under, but I think it must have either knocked us both out for a few seconds or at least stunned us.”

“Were you hurt?” Karl demanded.

Dessie stayed the grueling temporarily by saying, “Well, not exactly,” she replied as her gaze locked with her husband’s.

“What do you mean, ‘not exactly,’” Karl snapped. “Maybe we need to postpone our meal and move to our suite where we can give the two of you a thorough checkup.”

“Where was the initial point of contact?” Glenda demanded of Dessie.

Dessie’s face turned the most interesting shade of red that Phillip had seen in a while. Neither of the Müllers was blind, and they were far from stupid, so they noticed immediately...

This week with Arlene and Jeff:

...Back on the deck, Mia had softened the lights before handing the bottle to Phillip. “Would you open this, please? When I do it, there tends to be champagne everywhere.”

Phillip suspected that Stefan had usually opened the wine and was flattered that Mia wanted him to. He tucked the base of the bottle against his lower stomach, unwound the wire and set it aside. Slowly, he unscrewed the bottle from the top while holding the top firmly against the bottle, lest the cork should shoot out and champagne go everywhere.

There was a louder pop than he expected. Amazing himself, he didn’t lose any of the liquid.

The women held the glasses while he poured. “To Stefan,” Mia said as they touched glasses with tears trickling down her cheeks. After they sipped, the two women sat on the swing talking quietly until Mia’s tears stopped.

Phillip found a nicely padded chaise lounge a few feet away and relaxed, only offering an occasional comment to the girls’ conversation. A few minutes later, he nodded off...

HAPPY NEW YEAR

This week with Arlene and Jeff:

...Jeff cracked an eye to see a grinning Ada looking down at him. “Ready for a half dozen eggs, a pound or so of bacon and a few biscuits?” she asked. “We had a vote, and most of us decided that you deserved a little more sleep.”

”Most?” he questioned.

“Well, all, as you darn sure know after screwing us half to death last night.

Pretending, the Prime groaned as he sat up. “I may never walk again, and it was my wives who kept wanting more.” Then, after a moment as he stared down at his limp member, “I think my dick is broken,” he said as an aside...
