The science comes into play with the first step in the hurry-up trip home: getting rid of unneeded mass that might hinder acceleration.
The journey home begins. This is where the science part of this science fiction story really will come to the fore. The story explains a lot of it. In my blog entries I'll try to distinguish what's real, known science from the parts that I've made up. In all cases I've tried to be consistent with the scope of present knowledge, and with the premises of the Eden universe.
With a little time to spare, Carlie and Alicia use it wisely. Then they get a shock. But the Edenites are coming home with them.
I warned at the beginning that there was going to be some science in this science fiction--both real science and some speculative stuff combining the current extent of scientific knowledge with the exigencies of my story. This is where the biggest component of it starts. They've got to get away from the Eden system before the nova's emissions arrive. and it's going to be a narrow squeak. The science plays a big role.
