HAMr Universe
Follow the adventures of Vin HAMr Pilot starting out in a Mercenary company. Set in the far future when humans have entered space. The UN was a force to be reckoned with, but left when the in fighting was started to explore space taking much of the tech with them.
Countries are now in charge of systems and have formed a tentative alliance with each other called the CORE. The main reason is that due to hundreds of years of war their tech level drastically declined. Earth evolved and the UN eventually obtained an effective military. Eventually the Earth was choking under the rising population and it was decided to colonise space. Peace reigned for some time. Until the various countries decided that they wanted more. The Companies had amassed vast amounts of money and held a lot of power which the countries wanted back. The rulers of various countries repossessed companies and facilities on a large scale and preceeded to war with one another.
The UN military could do little to stop it as they relied on the companies to supply them with the equipment and the country to supply them with troops. Eventually most of the UN troops left into deep space taking the as much advanced technology as they could find.
The Countries now became systems at war with each other. Eventually the drop in tech level and years of continued warfare meant that uneasy truces were formed with the occasional raiding. Eventually the Council of Regional Earth was formed. (CORE for short).
This was in part because they found that large scale war was severely crippling their advance in technology. The Shunt protection law was formed to make it a criminal act to destroy a Shunt ship. Various Systems then began exploring space and found a few forgotten colonies of 'humans' which they all formed 'alliances' with. Most were subjagated and their tech and lands stolen. A few were as advanced such as the Ekstases that could not be forced to join with the CORE. History records show that the Ekstases refused to join with the CORE as they had the neutral stance.
This still benefited the CORE as they realised that "humanoids" were not the only ones in the Verses. The Ekstases were protected by a vast array of ships coming out from nowhere when the issue was forced. The CORE found that on Damask one of the Ekstasis Planets a Neutral university catering to all species could be to its advantage.
The CORE's main aim was to obtain as much technology at whatever costs to be able to wipe out the other species or get the Ekstases to give to them all new research and with hold it from the other aliens. This attempt failed when they tried to hold the EU for ransom. The situation was diffused, though it is only known among a few how. The CORE went back to plotting. They had a new problem however.the Tribe.
The Tribe have come to attack the CORE. The Tribe are the descendents of the original UN troops that left Earth thousands of years ago and they are coming back home to claim Earth.
