Fractured Humanity — A Universe from the Mind of Lord Van Leak

Humanity has become divided since the Great Purge of Earth. The lucky few who escaped the enslavement of Earth were catapulted into the universe in an attempt to survive. Two thousand years later, humanity as a whole is still under the control of the Galactic Senate, the ruling body of all known-space. Two major factions, The Republic and The Imperials, fight for control of human-controlled space and the right to challenge for a seat in the Galactic Senate as representatives of the human race. The Republic is a stratocracy under the control of a few generals while the Imperials are true to their Roman heritage and rule as a republic. While humans fight to rule themselves, other, more powerful, enemies lurk in the shadows, trying to gain control over the unruly humans.
