Chapter 2

The next day, their parents didn't notice anything odd. The twins aways spoke in half phrases. They always seemed to be laughing at a joke that no one else knew.

But Jim noticed right away. Halfway to school he stopped walking. "Ok, you two! Give! What's the deal-e-oh?" They exchanged a look. "Don't say nothing! You guys only do that look thing when something big's up and you've been doing it since yesterday afternoon."

"Seriously, dude..." John started.

" ... we just learned something about pirates."

John grinned and looked away. "Ahoy, matey."

"That is such bull!" Jim declared.

"Seriously, we did." Jack tugged her shirt. It was much tighter than she was used to. "That's all." They continued to school.

Posters had gone up around the school advertizing a costume contest at the dance: best male, best female, best group.

"I know who's gonna win best female." Jim laughed over lunch. "Stacy's coming as a bellydancer!"

"Still won't beat Jack's pirate." John smiled at her.

"You tried them on already?"

John nodded. "Uh-huh. Last night."

"Perfect fit." Jack agreed.

John blushed but covered it. "Well, mine's a little tight. Have you tried your yet?"

"Yeah. My Mom's gonna get me better hat and see if she can find looser pants."

"Oh no!" Jack exclaimed before she thought. "But then you won't be pirate twins!" She added smoothly. "You have to wear the same thing."

Jim shrugged. "Ok."
