It had been two weeks from the day that Justin told Shelly he loved her and couldn't live if anything happened to her. As she was lying in bed thinking back to what has transpired in the last two weeks, she couldn't believe how quickly things had changed. Shelly was stiff but was gradually getting better. She knew it was about time to be honest with Justin about everything. He spent all of his free time with her, helping her with her exercises and making sure that she didn't over do it and that she ate like she was supposed to. She had a feeling the doctor after getting her file, told both Justin and the ranch owner Mr. Wilson some of what was in there, at least the part of her right side being injured in a car accident involving a drunk driver. She could see it in Justin's eyes last night, that he wanted to ask her, but wasn't sure if she was ready to answer or not, instead he just held her, she remembered drifting off to sleep feeling safe and loved.

Justin was leaving today and was going to be gone for a week, they were going to a horse show and auction as Mr. Wilson had a couple of horses he was interested in buying. Shelly knew she had to tell him before he left.

Getting up again, deciding on a run since Justin made sure she couldn't saddle up Shadow and go riding on her own. Slowly stretching Shelly took two pain killers and decided a run would help her work the nervousness out of her system. Both the doctor and Justin would kill her if they knew she was planning on running to the ocean and then back. Hence why she was up so early, not wanting anyone to see her up and going for a run, let alone knowing she had already snuck out to the barn hoping to go for a ride to the ocean and then a quick swim before returning. She grabbed her back pack, putting her pain killers, a bottle of water and some fresh fruit to eat once she got to the beach, strapping that pain in the rear knee brace on, grabbing her IPod Shelly stretched for the run and quietly headed downstairs for the second time and the clock had yet to chime 6 am. While Shelly was not normally a morning person, she found it easier to get up in the morning of course being woken up with the same recurring nightmare every night and not being able to go back to sleep was the biggest factor. Shelly had long ago run out of sleeping pills, and really didn't like mixing them with the pain killers which she needed far more.

As Shelly prepared to leave the house she quickly looked around her to see if there was anyone watching as she quickly walked toward the trail that would take her to the beach, deciding not to start running till she was out of eye sight. Just as Shelly's head disappeared down the path and she began her run, Justin left his cabin to head for breakfast before going to check on Shelly. He knew he had to ask her soon, the suspense was killing him, especially after the doctor told him about the car accident and that Shelly had only been out of the cast and sling for her right arm and the cast for her right leg a couple of months before coming to the ranch. The details he received put him into utter shock and disbelief. How could she function the way she did after being so badly injured. She has strength and determination that he never knew was possible. Although Justin had a feeling there was more to the story then the doctor disclosed.

As Justin left the dining hall, something in him said that things weren't quite right; he couldn't place his fingers on the problem but knew it was there none the less. He walked to the main house and found Jennifer one of the staff assigned to Shelly until she was back on her feet and able to care 100% for herself. "Has Shelly gotten up yet?" Justin asked Jennifer.

"I haven't heard from her yet Justin, but I will go up and see if she is ready for her morning exercises" replied Jennifer. Jennifer headed upstairs and knocked 3 times on Shelly's door before using her own key to unlock the door. Jennifer was looking around the room trying to figure out what was missing when she heard Justin knocking on the door she had left open as he entered the room. One look at Jennifer's face and he knew Shelly wasn't in the room. "Her back pack, IPod, and oh my God her knee brace is gone. She couldn't have gone running could she, where would she have gone?"

"I think I know" replied Justin, "Don't worry, I am sure she is fine and I will go get her and bring her back" Justin told Jennifer. "But not till I spank her for this and making me worry" Justin mumbled under his breath. Justin didn't know why but his gut told him to take Shadow with him, Shadow could easily accommodate two riders and Azura was just not big enough to handle them both, despite the fact Shelly probably weighed no more than 135 and Justin never could get above 170, not the way he worked. Justin grabbed his first aid pack not knowing what kind of trouble Shelly would get herself into this time, matches, blankets and a few other necessities just in case. He saddled Shadow and placed the packed saddle bags on then headed out towards the beach, something told him this was the way she would have gone.

All of a sudden Justin felt panic grip his stomach, like something bad was happening. Then his mind flashed back to that day on the beach and the look in Shelly's eyes when she was contemplating letting the ocean take her. He drove his heals hard into Shadow and leaned forward encouraging Shadow to run as fast as was safe to. Justin had to get there and quickly. "Shadow, I think Shelly is in trouble, we have to get to the beach quickly, I can feel something's wrong" with that Shadow whined and ran like he had never ran, knowing that Justin was right something was wrong.

As Shelly reached the beach she was out of breath and was in more pain then she honestly thought she would be in. Sitting on the sand Shelly tried to stretch the muscles that were cramping so that she could make it back to the house. She knew she would be getting an ear full from both Justin and Jennifer about taking off like that. Jennifer had been very kind to her, making sure she followed the doctors and Justin's orders to a T. Shelly couldn't help but close her eyes and playback all those times with Justin seeing the look of love and concern in his eyes for her over the last few weeks as he helped her, and sometimes even forced her to do those damn exercises. "Ha" Shelly laughed out loud, "Those exercises should be deemed cruel and unusual punishment."

A loud sound behind her made Shelly's eyes fly open and fear grip her heart. She knew she could never defend herself from whatever was behind her making all that noise she would be barely able to hobble back to the house as is. Slowly Shelly looked behind her and with terror then relief showing in her eyes she saw Shadow coming through the edge of the forest and on to the beach with Justin on his back. Shelly sighed and was both grateful that Justin came after her, but also fearful of his reaction, the look on his face scared her more than anything.

Justin was hoping off of Shadow's back before he even stopped, Shelly gasped in fear that he would hurt himself in the process. Next thing she knew she was wrapped in Justin's arms his love for her evident. When he released her and looked in her eyes she could see he was angry and concerned.

"Are you crazy", he said "It hasn't even been but two weeks and here you are going for a run without telling anyone where you were going."
