Those who have read my stories may recognize references to characters featured elsewhere in my writing. I've tried to put this together so those have never seen any of my stories will enjoy it not one bit less.
A brief note to those who whine that they can't see the whole story because it's in the subscribers' area: Look into setting up a site like SOL and what it costs in money, not even considering the time. It's not reasonable to expect the operator of a quality erotic fiction site who doesn't inflict countless banners, pop-ups and consoles on visitors, to pay everything out of his or her pocket. OK, you bought the car (your ISP subscription) and you drove to the mall (the site). Would you expect Barnes & Noble's cashier to say, "Oh, those books and magazines are free"?
Didn't think so.
And, by the way, I do not know of one, single, solitary Web author, self-published or otherwise, who is getting rich from it... or even covering the cost of an ISP.
Enough ranting. I hope you enjoy this story, keeping in mind the caveat at the beginning. My reiterated kudos to Vernor Vinge, whose brilliant and possibly prophetic novelette, "True Names," inspired one of the references.
