Most of the action takes place in 1947/8. Germany won the war. Belgium, Denmark, France, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, and Spain are all part of Greater Germany and are effectively provinces. The UK is still occupied by the German army.

How this came about, and the differences from our universe, can be summed up by four factors.

1 Japan did not bomb Pearl Harbour and so the USA did not join in what it saw as a strictly European conflict;

2 The Americans did not interfere with Japan’s ambitions in Asia, and allowed China, Indo-China, Burma, and Singapore to be annexed;

3 Winston Churchill was assassinated in October 1941, and so the wisdom which prevailed in the UK Government was the “peace” faction, who wished to open negotiations with Germany, leading effectively to surrender in 1942;

4 and finally, Hitler did not embark on the foolhardy invasion of Russia.

Author’s note: Where necessary for the reader’s comprehension some passages clearly spoken in German have been translated into English. Those not so translated are left in the original German and are of no significance, or their meaning may be easily guessed. If not, try http://translate.google.com/ for an explanation.
