To say that in the days following his date Pat had some thoughts about Jill would be an understatement. That was all he thought about. Her looks, her personality, her body, and the way she made love were constantly on his mind. He hadn’t realized how much he missed making love with a woman.

Pat phoned Jill Wednesday night and confirmed the date they had made for Saturday. Jill asked what he was planning to do. He responded by telling her all he had thought about was having dinner. She suggested they have dinner at the restaurant in the Casino which was newly refurbished and was featuring steak and prime rib in their advertisements. After dinner she said they could try their luck at the various games of chance. Pat agreed to her suggestion and said he would pick her up at six.

Saturday couldn’t come fast enough as far as Pat was concerned but it finally did. He was probably more nervous this time when he pressed her doorbell button than he was the first time that he did it. That was because he was anticipating the extracurricular activity that would be occurring when they returned back to her condo. Maybe he was assuming too much but all indications were that the things he wanted to happen or hoped would happen would in fact happen.

Jill opened the door with a nice smile on her face and gave him a kiss on his cheek. He told her she looked good and she did in the dark blue blouse and black slacks she was wearing. She offered to make them a drink before they left and he accepted her offer. In watching her walk to the counter to make the drink he couldn’t help but notice how the slacks she was wearing fit her butt just right confirming to him again that she did have a nice ass.

He really hadn’t noticed much about the inside of her condo the first time he was here which had him look around at the furnishings. He complimented her on how she had decorated the condo. It was neat and clean with no clutter nor were there any excesses in her decorations. He looked at the painting on the wall and a few pictures of her sons’ families and grandchildren that were on a chest and on the fireplace mantel.

After finishing the drinks they left for the Casino. Pat caught the pleasant sent of Jill’s perfume in the car. The constant smile on her face as she talked told him that she enjoyed being with him.

They did have a drink before they ordered their food. The conversation continued to be one of getting to better know the other person. He learned a few things about Jill that he hadn’t known before. Her thoughts on politics were similar to Pat’s. In fact she was probably more to the right than he was on certain issues. She liked sports but didn’t golf although she was considering taking lessons. Her grandchildren were all doing well and she visited with them as often as she could but at the same time tried not to intrude too much on their life.

As to her divorce, she said she was married for twenty three years and they had become empty nesters when her now ex-husband brought up the subject of divorce. This was not a shock to Jill as the love they had for each other had long dissipated from the marriage. He said he had found someone he was seeing which was why he was suggesting they divorce. She thought about it and then agreed to the divorce as maybe she could find someone as well who would re-light her fires.

Financially her ex had done well as an attorney winning some large personal injury and class action lawsuits. He was also good in investing money and she thought he was fair in his proposal of dividing their assets. She received two ten unit apartment buildings with small mortgages remaining that were cash flow positive and a portfolio of investments. Her investments are managed by a financial advisor and they generate a stream of income which is more than adequate for her needs. She is friends with her ex and sees him sometimes with her sons’ families during the holidays. Her ex as far as she knows never did remarry and she doesn’t know why.

Pat basically covered the same areas of discussion with her. He said that his pension with its annual three percent COLA raise provides more than enough income to cover his living expenses. The reduced pension he receives from his wife’s former employer as well as some life insurance benefits and investments give him no financial worries. He has been asked to work as a security and bodyguard but so far he has not had any inclination to do that.

The conversation covering these items made the time go by. Pat was a little surprised when he was presented with the check because the time had gone by so fast.

In leaving the restaurant Jill said she wanted to try her luck at a blackjack table. Pat went with her to the tables and they found a table where it was a ten dollar minimum bet. Jill saw that table but she went to a table that had no players by it and was a twenty dollar minimum bet. After taking a seat she opened her purse and gave the dealer five twenty dollar bills for chips.

The amount she was willing to gamble surprised Pat and for some reason he didn’t want to watch how successful she was in her efforts. Pat told Jill he was going to try his luck at the slot machines. He found a twenty five cent video poker slot machine that was unoccupied and proceeded to make what he called a donation to the casino. He couldn’t help but think that if Jill lost big it would put a damper on the evening and what he hoped would be happening later, may not in fact happen at all.

After playing the slots for over an hour he was surprised to be thirty dollars ahead largely because of two minor jackpots that he had hit. It was time to quit as a winner he thought which had him to cash in and go to find Jill.

He saw she was still at the blackjack table where he had left her. There was another player sitting at the table along with Jill but that was it. As he approached her table he noticed that there were six people standing behind the table watching what was happening. He heard two of the people standing there talking and one made the comment, “That lady is hot both in how she looks and how she plays cards.”

Walking up to stand behind her he placed his hand on her side giving it a little rub and bent to her saying, “How are you doing.” He could see that there were a good number of multi-colored chips in front of her on the table.

“Not too bad. They changed dealers on me three times to change my luck which didn’t seem to work for them. I do sense that my luck may now be changing so it is time to call a halt to this. Let me pick up my chips and cash in.”

Pat walked with her to the cashier and observed her cash in the chips and could see that she received back sixteen hundred and fifty dollars. Jill didn’t seem to be excited by the amount of money. He offered to buy her a drink but she said she had two drinks while gambling and that was enough.

Smiling at Pat she took his arm and with a look on her face that spoke volumes said, “We should be going back to my condo.”

Those were the words Pat wanted to hear and they walked to where his car was in the parking lot.

As they reached the car they were confronted by two men. The ages of the men were a guess as they both were wearing ski masks.

The shorter of the two men said, “Lady you have something that we want. Give me your purse.”

Pat could see that they were menacing looking and were brandishing knives with six inch blades. They must have followed Jill from the casino after noticing that she had won a large amount of money.

“Lady I said give me your purse and nothing will happen but if you don’t, you and your friend are going to be sorry!”

Jill was clutching her purse and said, “Why do you want my purse?”

“I want what’s in it, the money! This is the last time I am going to say it, now give me your purse or you are going to be sorry!”

That was enough for Pat to hear. He pulled out his pistol and pointed at the face of the apparent ring leader who was no more than eight feet away from him and said, “Okay assholes drop the knives and get on the ground or you are going to get a bullet right between the eyes.” The tone of his voice said he meant business.

To say this was an unexpected response the robbers received would be an understatement. They hesitated for a moment but when they heard, “I said now or I am going to shoot,” they complied.

“Jill, go back to the casino and tell them what happened and ask for them to call the local police and to send their security out here. I am going to watch these two assholes and shoot the first one who makes any kind of a funny move.”

The tone of his voice left no doubt that he would do what he said he would.

Jill hurried off and about two minutes later Pat saw two men running toward him. They were from the casino’s security staff. They pulled their pistols out and pointed them at the men on the ground.
