I adhered to my schedule this morning as I plan to do in the future. The run was refreshing, the breakfast gathering with all the ladies present, except Anna, delightful. This gave me an opportunity to ascertain the various activities planned and their progress on projects and in their studies. Fay and May were back up to their usual high standards after a little bobble but indicated that transportation was becoming a problem. I suggested that they decide the make and model of the car that each wanted and then get together with the General to negotiate the best prices and with the Doctor to arrange insurance coverage and have it billed to the appropriate account through Sha. I then proceeded around the table to determine if there were other needs in the group and wishing them well until we gathered at the hot tub this evening. The group then went their own directions for the day

Deb crept into the room to announce that I had a telephone call from the Captain which I probably wanted to take. I held out my hand for the phone and gently caressed her hand in the exchange and thanked her. The Captain reported that the patrol craft were nearing completion and asked what arrangements had been mare for the armaments. Rather than taking on the design of the laser cannons, I had farmed out their design, construction and installation to CS&S so provided him a contact. The only specifications provided to the contractor were that were to be two cannon in a common mount whose impact point could be focused at various ranges but with enough power to melt the rudder posts of super tankers at a range of up to two miles. His exclamations at these specifications was such that I suggested that he watch his language. Of course that brought on a chuckle from him and an expression of concern for the stability of the craft from the recoil. I went on to explain that there was not a measureable recoil or even a sound from firing this weapon.

At that point I decided to temporarily assign the new head of the palace guard of the adjoining emirate to completion of this project. The Captain was informed of the qualifications of this individual, who would be arriving at his location shortly, and to please provide him with adequate training on handling the vessel and all of its systems. I handed the phone back to Deb and asked that he be informed of his new assignment and to make all necessary travel arrangements for him. I also asked her to contact the personnel manager at the air base and request that crews for the new vessels be assembled from our security force and from new hires of ex marines seeking employment. She was also asked to arrange an orderly transfer of her activities to Meg so that she could proceed with the project I had outlined to her. The importance and priority of her new project was emphasized to her.

The Doctor was then contacted to proceed with the appropriate announcements that tariffs were being imposed on all vessels traversing our territorial waters except for those cover by the favored nation clause which currently only included the US and Saudis. In addition she was asked to please provide instructions to the newly assigned individual to this project as to how he should carry out his responsibilities. With tasks assigned, I only wanted to see reports of the tariffs being received for deposit in the emirate bank and so informed Deb. If further instructions were required, the individuals could develop them as they proceeded with the project. Our state department contact was asked to negotiate some benefits for granting favored nation status to the Saudis.

A conference call was set up with the head machinist and engineer responsible for producing the first one hundred weapon packages during which they were instructed to prepare a budget including building specifications, with spare space for expansion, a lists of machine tools and personnel required to produce one hundred thousand weapons packages per year. I had noted a resume from a retired marine procurement officer, among those that had had crossed my desk, who would be the perfect manager for the manufacturing operation and asked Deb to have Mat to contact her to come in for an interview. In this same conversation I asked that Deb review the local county maps to determine if we had ownership of property that might be suitable for a plant site. I planned for that manufacturing division to be totally independent with staffing to handle personnel, accounting and other auxiliary services. Funds received from the government for this purpose would be deposited in separate bank accounts. The Doctor was requested to create a company to cover this operation as soon as possible. I reiterated my previous request for her to hire additional attorneys to assist her. I went on to say that if the attorney handling my affairs was young, attractive and very congenial, that as an inducement I may add her to my harem. The potential manager appeared for an interview and I was as impressed with her as I was with her resume so offered her a position which she gratefully accepted and was put on the payroll. Deb and Mat were instructed to direct all questions relating to weapon packages to the new manager.

The major in charge of security forces deserved praise and congratulations for the manner his personnel performed on the recent mission. I asked Mat to get him on the telephone to pass on those congratulations as well as prepare a formal letter praising him, for his records. During the telephone conversation with the major I brought up the need for an expanded security force at the soon to be new weapons manufacturing plant. He asked where it would be located and when I indicated that had not been decided, he observed that what better location than the air force base with a major security force in position. I had to agree but only if we were able to attract or train a skilled work force. That is another decision that I will leave up to the new plant manager.
