Claim 227 a Tale of the California Gold Rush by Ron Lewis

Description: A nervous hand reached down trembling as it went in the cold water. Pulling the nugget out as larger as his hand. He knew as soon as he touched it what it was. Holding it up to Andrews, yelling out to him his eyes wide looking wild, "Bonanza, Ya?" Walking to him David saw the yellow stone with other minerals clinging stubbornly to the gold. Taking the cold metal in his own hands, he felt a rush of excitement the gold warmed from his touch. Perhaps this where the fever comes from.

I found this tale interesting, I was trying to come up with a word to describe this type of tale and could only settle on historical fiction. An "averaging(?)" of characters of the time and their motives and activities. Thankfully the "good guys" came out OK; but it shows what some of the "better" type of lawmen had to put up with and do to establish some type of order and safety for the average citizen, something of the type of which I suspect that may still happen today.

I thought it was well written and an enjoyable read. Well done.
