A story of rebirth as the MC finds love after a tragic loss.
Do not read this story if you expect to remain emotionally unattached. If you have or have ever had children, expect to weep, and after you dry the tears, to keep reading as the author pulls you into the web that is the story.
This is a great story to remind us all that sometimes, as much as our lives may suck, there are others out there in great pain as well. It is also a reminder that much good can come from helping others in need, and that the gift of giving can be more rewarding to one's self than what is given.
"Charity..." is one of my favourite stories by TTT. It has a sense of exaggerated realism - in my sheltered, and comfortable life I have little here to understand the problems that the folks in this story have gone through, but it could be a real story of a couple out there.
You feel the pain and hollowness of Alex's life, and how he's driven to have to help Sandy when he finds out her situation. You understand the frustration and hostility that Sandy uses to defend herself from what her life has turned into.
I don't want to spoil it but when you find out that "moment" near the end, the extra tug on the heartstrings... it's just perfect.
The writing, as always is solid, the tale is well paced and well told.
Well worth the time to read.
