To say that Russell Hoisington passed away far too young and will be truly missed would both be understatements. He was generous with his time to friends old and new, and a warm and friendly individual, despite all the demands on his time and stamina caused by his medical treatments the last few years.
For most of us readers at storiesonline, he'll be remembered for his genial prose, that featured sweetness as well as sensuality.
Uncle Sky has graciously posted the "Wynter King Obituary" to give some closure to those of us who thoroughly enjoyed the five "Wynter" stories, which crossed over into the world of his friend Wizard's "Trailer Park" series. The preternaturally wise and sexual young denizens of the Colorado mountain town are sharply drawn characters that have been unforgettable for readers.
Whether or not anyone will take up the challenge of continuing the "Wynter" story line is anyone's guess, although it won't be easy for any newcomer to match Russell's particular ability to write third-person narrative in the distinctive voices of each character.
But hopefully reading Wynter's obituary will spur those who have yet to sample the series to dive in, as well as acquaint themselves with Russell's other stories. Those already familiar with the "Wynter" universe are in no way surprised by the magnitude of her accomplishments.
