In "Incompatibility", the author gives us a glimpse into a strange and bizarre place in the universe. The story revolves around a 16 yr. old young woman that is aboard a ship that is under attack by slavers. Slavers that use nanotechnology to pacify the people on the ship, making them docile. Yet Sarah is different, and is treated differently than the other newly obtained slaves.

The sex in this story is not much more than forced masturbation. There are strong MC tones to it, as Sarah is forced to enjoy it. While not stroke material, I found it arousing. If the author explored this storyline further, I would expect it to be quite hot.

The plot itself is quite good. I really hope the author decides to not make this a single chapter story, but elects to explore this section of the universe he has created. I think he is really onto a gem of an idea, and should have plenty of plot to move on to. That itch to read more about this affected my final enjoyment some. I really want to read more of Sarah's story.

Technically, the story was very well written.

Yes, this story is somewhat dark, with an outcome that makes me shudder to contemplate how I would scream inside my own head forever if it were to happen to me. Just by getting that reaction out of me is sure sign that the author was effective. I haven't felt that uncomfortable since I read Stephen King's "The Stand" for the first time, during flu season, with everyone coughing around me.

This is a very good story, but it would make a fabulous first chapter of a serial. It certainly put the hook in my mouth and pulled damn hard. Since I have sometimes commented that a story left me wanting more that wasn't coming and had reduced an overall score due to that, I am going to be consistent and score this one a 9 instead of a 10. I am disappointed that there isn't more to read.

If 'A Strange Geek' opts to make this a first chapter of a serial, I could easily see it pulling a Spinal Tap, and going to 11. It's that good of a premise. And the possibilities are fantastic.

This story reminds me of a "Twilight Zone" and an "Outer Limits" episode combined; one of those where you're on the edge of your seat until the final scene and then it takes you a while to fall asleep that night.

Could something like this possibly happen? Could it be happening at this very moment and we simply don't yet know about it because we haven't reached that far into the galaxy? Could this be where all those missing people that are never found end up?

If you don't like DARK tales I don't recommend this story for you, but if you love things on the DARK side and don't mind that the ending isn't the typical "happily ever after" this story is for you.

The author has written a wonderfully crafted tale of dark sci-fi and I admire him for telling the story just as it came to him; and not messing with it to give readers what we usually want -- a happy ending. And I'm looking forward to reading more of his stories.
