This is one of the most well thought through stories I’ve had the fortune and pleasure to read. The action never gets stale; the dialogue revealing; the plot fascinating; the intrigue real.
Aficionados of the master/slave genre will enjoy the scene called family bonding, an unusual and a very unique way to maintain obedience and discipline within a household. However, this is not your ordinary master/slave story of torture and humiliation. If society were to ever evolve into slavery, one would hope that it be benign and humane as construed in this story.
Two very powerful themes of sacrifice and family (aka love and belonging) run throughout the story.
The ending is superb and doesn't leave any hanging issues, and concludes with a lesson, whether right or wrong: the girl losses her freedom and her virginity to save her parents and to be taken care of - sacrifice and family.
