This is a very late review, given that the story first appeared in 2016. I'm a bit slack, OK?
I prefer stories that are driven by good characters and human interaction. If there's sex as well it's a bonus. This one has only one real sex scene and it isn't pornographic, so it may not be what some are looking for.
That said, it is a real gem of a "coming of age" story told by the primary female character. It also very sympathetically treats the much older female owner of "The October House" who seems very much like the "fun" grandmother type person who I, at least, would have loved to have as part of my life.
The characters are well drawn and easy to like. Their interactions are realistic and believable. While it doesn't make for good erotica, the reality is that many, if not most, relationships leading up to a "first time" take more than one or two dates or even one or two weeks.
And there are a couple of twists to make the story interesting, even given that the start of it essentially tells us where it is going. It's the journey that's important.
Definitely in my personal "top 20" list.
