My daughter, Emma Lea, was born at 11:55 p.m., Sunday, July 13. It was the best day of my life!
Mom and Emma came home Tuesday morning and each is doing fine.
Emma is as cute as a freshly born child can be. She weighed 6 lbs., 5 oz. and had 10 perfect little fingers and 10 perfect little toes.
Here is hoping the fiery red hair that is so prevalent in my sisters is a recessive trait and Emma gets the darker, almost-auburn shade of her mother. For now, her hair is a blondish color, but there is so little of it, we'll have to see what it turns out to be.
If she keeps the strawberry blond hair and inherits her mother's bluish-green eyes, I can already tell that I will have to begin my gun collection soon so I am proficient when boys start to come around in a few years!
I'll get back to posting whenever I can.
Here's wishing the rest of you a small portion of the love and fulfillment I'm feeling right now.
Best to all,
BB
A couple of more chapters up. More to come ASAP. Best to all -- BB
Anyone who has known me for very long can confirm this, and it shouldn't come as much of a shock to some readers. But here it is ...
I'm an idiot.
I was under the impression that I posted Chapters 32-33 about a week or two ago. It seems that I didn't. I know I meant to and I'm pretty sure I got to the last step in the submission process. That is where I seemed to have gone awry.
I didn't realize this until this evening when I culled through some of my e-mail. It seemed strange to me that no one had commented on either chapter, so I checked it out. Mystery solved.
Anyway, chapters 32 and 33 are posted. And I'm almost 50 percent certain that I did it right this time.
I'm slowly catching up with things -- and it is supposed to rain like hell all week here -- so I might get another chapter or two up soon. Or maybe not. It isn't a promise, just a goal.
Best wishes,
BB
A message from the missing:
I plan to post Chapter 32 this afternoon or Monday but after that, it will be a while before Chapter 33 shows up.
It's time for a harsh fact of life, folks. I have entirely too much going on right now and something has to give.
Guess what? It's Path to Glory which has become almost like a job instead of the hobby it started out as (sad but true). I don't mean that harshly. It has just gained a much bigger and more loyal readership than I anticipated and I find myself working harder to earn that following than I do to earn my paycheck.
In addition, I am playing nursemaid to an ill eight-months pregnant fiancee (who is growing more irritable -- and irritating -- each day); I'm working to finish my baby's room; and I'm working at my real job so I can have enough money to feed the aforementioned fiancee and baby.
Toss in the fact that it has been 85-90 degrees here for the past 10 days and I would rather be outside than just about anywhere and you see why you haven't seen anything from me for the last week or so.
Not to mention that my rewrite of the remaining chapters is still being looked at and some of my editors have expressed an opinion that the revisions seem as though I'm forcing a round peg into a square hole. I have some other folks looking at it (without the benefit of having seen the original ending) so we'll see.
I hope that explains my absence for the past week and the likelihood of my absence (except during rainy days) for the next few weeks.
Oh, and if you want to send a pissy Anonymous e-mail like I've gotten the past few times real life intervened, knock yourself out.
I find it humorous that some of you think I should chuck the rest of my life to provide a few moments of entertainment. To put it into perspective, for each minute you've spent reading a chapter, my editors and I have spend an hour or more writing it, refining it and revising it.
Holy shit, some folks really need to get out of their Mom's basement now and then and see how the rest of the world lives.
If anyone is interested in chuckling along with me, send me an e-mail and I'll forward my favorites.
Best wishes to all,
BB
So, it turns out the weekend I promised to resume posting Path to Glory was a three-day weekend in the U.S. It was also the first 80 degree day in the area in which I reside, so my Sweetie wasn't about to let me languish in the garage all weekend writing.
Most people enjoy three day weekends. I certainly enjoyed the weekend part but the next week was difficult. I get to cram five days of work into four.
But, finally, I have the rewrites finished and I sent them off to the editors a few minutes ago. The changes don't really start for a few more chapters but I didn't want to post something and find that I had written myself into a corner so I held off posting.
I also didn't get the chance to clean up the already posted chapters. It is still on my list, though.
I uploaded two chapters this morning. It will resolve the Bailey storyline -- for now -- and move things onward. If all goes well, I will get back to the chapter per day formula that I used previously. If not, I will post whenever I can.
Best wishes,
BB
