I sent this chapter to my editor several days ago, but haven't heard a word from him. I did my best in the editing of this chapter myself, and posted it. If you find too many errors, I apologize in advance.
Once again, I remind you that I am completely new at this stuff. After writing chapter 1, I reread the prologue. With a little bit more experience under my belt, I found several areas that just didn't seem to flow well to me, and some pieces of dialog that didn't quite make sense. I have submitted a re-edited version of the prologue, and have changed the summary for the story.
I have also received many emails from those of you concerned by my statement that 'I'll never write what you want to hear if you don't ask for it!' I assure you that I definitely have a plan for this story. It will not go meandering off into nowhere. I can always change some of the details, though, so your comments and suggestions are always welcome.
I just want to take this opportunity to thank the SOL community for the overwhelming welcome you have given me as a new writer. In spite of this being the first creative writing I have done since the seventh grade, seventeen years ago, I've now received an amazing amount of supportive feedback.
I have sent off Chapter 1 of the Book of Shimura to my editor, Frank the First Born. He did a great job finding my little mistakes in the Prologue, and I'm sure this chapter will come back just as pristine. I'll get it posted as soon as I can.
Thanks again to everyone for the wonderful feedback, and feel free to continue to send any advice as the story develops. Or, just let me know how you like it so far!
Brave Sir Robin
