Yep, when using the insert link functions, you always need to make sure the http:// that the insert function may proved doesn't become an unintended duplicate.
I really wish they didn't stick them there in the first place, since I'm always using a copy/paste from the browser bar, so the http:// is included.
The http:// is highlighted, so if you paste without first clicking in the dialog, your URL will replace the supplied http:// rather than appending to it
