I'm trying to remember the title of a story I read a while back. It's about a middle-aged, family man who goes back to school. His lab partner falls for him. His wife gets sick and dies. He works in the computer industry which is why he is so good in that class.

I recall seeing the story, but can't place it.
He gets the young girl pregnant prior to the wife dying. I think one of his kids is a daughter close to the age of the one he got pregnant. I thought the wife had died in a car accident, but maybe she was sick.
I remember he works in computers and he writes the coding down on paper first. He also is studying to be a teacher.

Yep, this the one I was trying to find from OP's description. I only knew to search for 'Julie' and 'pregnant', but those are very common and I don't know how to search for files having both words somewhere.
