His lost blog entry is from 2009. There he stated that he had some health issues that forced his early retirement, as well as several deaths and health issues with other members of the family. So it sounds like another case of having to stop writing for a while, and just not getting back into it again, or, worst case, he has gone to that great slush pile in the sky.
