Character is king

Switch Blayde

I was reading an introduction by Lee Child (Jack Reacher author) and came across this:

First: Character is king. There are probably fewer than six books every century remembered specifically for their plots. People remember characters. Same with television. Who remembers the Lone Ranger? Everybody. Who remembers any actual Lone Ranger story lines? Nobody.

So my lead character had to carry the whole weight.

Alternatively, it may be just one of four kings.

I'd agree with that summation. Despite how many people LOVE my Catalyst and Great Death stories, they remember Alex and Dave much more than the plot details. The details come and go (and hold the plot together) but it's the characters who breathe life into the work and make it come alive for readers. It's also why readers get so upset when you kill off their favorite characters!

The Disney Corporation had issues for years with illegitimate Disney porn stories, made worse because there were a couple porn shorts actually written and produced by Disney employees shortly after Mickey Mouse first appeared on screen.

They had porn back in the late '20s?
And here's everyone else thinking it was created for the Internet. Or the Internet was created for porn, one or the other. A chicken and egg scenario.

And you should see what they considered to be porn in the 1800's. :)

Only a short while after they got the internet started, they started posting the 'ancient' Disney porn films on the early share sites, which is where I viewed them. Since porn hadn't gotten a foothold yet, it was the first-of-its-kind in more ways than one.

I think the most remembered line is from Tonto. "What do you mean WE'RE surrounded by Indians, White Man?"

is that from the original radio show, the WWII era cinema serials, the 60's era TV show or the recent feature length movie?

Doing a quick search reveals MAD Magazine as a possible source.
