I continue to be amazed at how bad my stories are scoring.
I have tried everything; well, most everything.
I know I have a demented fixation on limited ideas.
There are an unlimited number of themes on other ideas.
Perhaps my slant on themes is twisted enough to generate low scores. Perhaps my writing skills are just terrible.
On the other hand, my first few stories had pretty decent scores. Now they just continue to descend to unimaginable depths. I guess at a hundred stories, I am out of new ways to present the same theme.
I have a number of stories in my "Ideas," folder that are outlined and weakly started. It seems ridiculous to continue or try to finish them if they are so weakly received.
The last story, about crewseekers.com came to me from a phone conversation, asking me if I wanted to go along with a friend. I had a very short story in mind, but could not finish all in one setting. I have lots of other projects going on. A summer of neglect on a yard that needed lots of care. Plants that needed to be redistributed, grass that needed to be seeded and watered. Motorcycle tanks to repaint and refurbish, other people to help with their hobbies and projects.
It seemed to take forever to finish this story. It seems that each night I had another idea to add to it. It just wouldn't ever end. After I finished it and did a spell check, I continued to change; to add to it.
I don't know if this added to the low scores; a never ending story. I don't know, but suspect this theme is just objectionable to most people.
I don't know if I'm just out of ideas or somewhat dejected over the low scores. Maybe my jaded ego will pull me out of this and try another.
