I'm looking for beta readers and people who would be willing to discuss world building. Lover's Shadow continues to grow: I'm at the climax of the action around 72,000 words in. I'd like to be able to run scenes by people to get reactions to what works and does not work. In addition, the Light of Passion universe is really starting to evolve. All sorts of details are emerging: everything from hints about anual festivals to customs around raising children are becoming important. I'd love to have people who would be willing to discuss world-building aspects of this universe. This is a place where the philosopher's stone would be a lot closer to a 3d printer than a way to turn lead into gold. Broadcast TV might well spell the end of the world. As an author, playing in such an unusual space is fun, and I'd like to share the joy. I'd love to be able to do things like run ideas for a calendar or about implications of technology development by some readers and get input both on potentially better ideas and on things I may have missed. Also, there are some aspects of world-building like style of dress where I am sure readers could come up with better ideas than I do. I can talk about intent behind clothing, what different parts of the culture would be trying to do with their (lack of) dress. However, I'm sure there are people out there who would have much better ideas than I about how that would influence clothing.
<p>If you'd be interested in helping, please drop me a line. The only important qualification is willingness to participate in discussions and to share your thoughts. I'm really looking forward to getting to a point where I can share this next work.
