Each November I join about 800,000 other writers and challenge myself to write a book of at least 50,000 words in 30 days. Last night I successfully completed the challenge for the twelfth consecutive year. I know there are other SOL writers who also participate in this event and I hope you have been equally successful.
As a result of the endeavor, LNDtH2 Part VIII: Becoming the Storm is now completed (writing) and chapters 82-90 are in the hands of my three fantastically capable editors. I am ready to launch into writing Part IX, tentatively titled "Heaven's Gate."
But first... I'm enjoying a week with my daughter in beautiful Hawaii. My Thanksgiving was made perfect, not by a fine meal (we picked up packaged food at the grocery store) but by her arrival on the Big Island. We have dodged the raindrops (a daily occurrence) and enjoyed exploring markets, coffee mills, beaches, and local delicacies. I am not only relaxing my body, but refreshing my spirit with her great love of life.
She, however, is also a writer, so we continue to have periods where, instead of driving over the volcano, we sit in front of our computers and 'bleed on the page' for a while. In addition to Part IX, I still have a backlog of other stories and hope to get one of them written by yearend. Helps keep me fresh on LNDtH if I get to stretch my mind into other areas as well.
For those of you who celebrated a special day of thanks this week, I hope your life is filled blessings. For those who are simply thankful for every day, may you have continued abundance. For those who are struggling, I hope my words and those of other authors on this site provide a moment of light and encouragement for you, an escape from your reality, and a balm for your soul.
