I've mentioned the concept of a "typical" farmhouse and barn in LNDtH. For those who are unfamiliar with the look, I've posted photos and drawings on my Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/authorDevonLayne/photos/pb.382728375219651.-2207520000.1433352997./480817312077423/?type=1&theater
ADDENDUM: I've been informed that the link does not work for everyone. All photos and posts are accessible from the general Devon Layne page at https://www.facebook.com/authorDevonLayne
I spent a weekend with my friend Mike about seventy miles south of IU this spring. He's been farming there for fifty years. As soon as I mentioned the terms 'typical Indiana farmhouse' and 'typical Indiana barn,' he described these in almost the exact terms I used in the story. I know there are variations and that these are not the almighty archetypes, but this is what Brian and crew have to work with in LNDtH. Floor plan to come.
