This week with Arlene and Jeff:
...It was farther to the bridge than Eileen would have imagined, reminding her of what Bill said about the Ship being larger inside than out. As they stepped into the… room, Eileen came to a sudden halt as she stared around. Oh, shit. This thing is for real. It looks like a bridge, I suppose, but it… feels alien.
Arlene, who had been sitting in one of the two seats that were obviously command positions, stood. "Welcome aboard," she said with a slight bow, then grinned. "Believe there's a starship sitting in back of the Retreat now?" Before Eileen could think of an answer that didn't sound as stupid as she was feeling, the teenager had walked over and hugged her.
"Kinda grabs you, doesn't it? Trust me. It was just as much a shock for me, too." Then turning to Bill, "I'll bet she's gonna make one hell of an interceptor pilot, don't you think?"
"You bet," Bill responded with a wide grin.
"Interceptor?" Eileen asked.
"Yeah," Arlene said with a laugh. "One heck of a badass fighter, with guns you won't believe and an inertialess drive. You can go from full out to a dead stop in an inch."...
Have a goodun;
