You can probably tell from LNDtH that I really like the county fair delicacy called 'elephant ears' or fried dough. Unfortunately, it's out of season right now. I don't expect to get to another county fair until July. But I've discovered a fun secret.
I've talked about Brian pulling apart his bread dough and frying it up. Well, my kitchen consists of a sink, a three-burner stove, and an oven I've never used. I've never tried to make bread in my trailer. My insatiable desire for fried dough, however, drove me on.
This morning I melted a tablespoon of butter in my frying pan and pulled apart two of Pillsbury's crescent roll dough triangles. I tossed them in the pan to fry and unbelievably came out with a pretty yummy alternative to elephant ears. Sprinkled with cinnamon/sugar, they were exquisite. Now I have to limit my intake or I'll end up weighing 300 pounds!
Just thought you'd like to know there is hope for the winter!
