Well I finished first chapter of the story I'm writing for National Novel Writing Month, commonly called NaNoWriMo (nanowrimo.com) at about 12:00 today. Going through it quickly for missing or misused words now. Then will let my editor to do the same. I will post it that chapter in a day or so. I'm about to start the second chapter already though.
The publishing the chapters as their finished for people to read for free really unedited, unpolished, is terrifying. Far more terrifying than the story is - at least to me.
When I first started writing and putting my stories on on here it was just for fun. I slapped them out fast. Down and dirty no worry about editing, they were dreadful! Their all gone now deleted, destroyed, killed off so no one has to read them.
Now that I have an editor, publish them here for you all to read I'm far pickier about the stories. (Some would say not picky enough) I have them edited, rewrite them, then they are reedited and finally published. Yes, one chapter at a time but they are at least a second draft.
Still I find errors and have to fix them and reload them. Now, the very thought of people reading a largely unedited story while I write it is striking fear in my heart. The only consolations is that it is free for those who read it, I just hope they get more than they pay for.
I can't spend much time on editing or waiting on editing if I'm going to complete it before the end of the month. After all the goal is a story of at least 50,000 words in 30 days.
I feel the story will be a bit longer than the goal for the competition. Crap that is even more pressure isn't it! I have done 3203 words so far today. I have no idea if they are good words yet. I'll post them soon and you can tell me if they are good words or not!
