And so we come to the end of the journey. I had no idea this was going to be such a monumental task. Thank you all for the encouragement to see it through. Thank you also for the assistance, because it would have been nowhere near as good without your help.
When I finished Book 7, with Carl and Marilyn saying goodbye to the White House, I figured that would be a good place to stop, but in the back of my mind I always had ideas for what Carl would do in his retirement. That formed the basis for the Epilogue. Some things I left out. There was no need to show Carl receiving any more awards or becoming even more famous. Some of the suggestions I received were simply implausible. (Carl winning the Nobel Peace Prize? Get real! The man started or fought in three wars, and no way are a bunch of left-wing Europeans going to applaud that!) Likewise, I see no point to writing about his children. I have mentioned what they are doing, but beyond that, I don't have an interest. Use your imaginations. There won't be any add-ons or supplementary stories. This really is the end of the story.
I have started my research and planning on my next story (preliminary title, The Grim Reaper, and no, it is not about the supernatural) which probably won't be published until 2015. I don't foresee this being anywhere near as long as A Fresh Start, but I never thought that would end up as big as it did. As always, I will be looking for some assistance from my kind readers. I have already asked for some police help. Now I need some more military help. If you were in the Army in the early to mid-2000s, let me know. My ideal assistant would have served in the 10th Mountain Division. Still, I will take whatever help I can get. Thanks.
