I know I just posted yesterday, but it happens that I got to Valentine (The Heart City) Nebraska just in time for the Cherry County Fair and Rodeo this week. There was the very cute rodeo queen and her princess who rode around the arena during the calf roping tonight. The Ladies Precision Drill Team that performed several patterns while bouncing delightfully in their saddles. There was the break-roping--a cowgirls event in which the winning time for roping a calf and reaching the end of the rope (where it breaks) was 2.8 seconds.
But then, there was barrel racing. I've written about Betts, Brian, Theresa, Rhonda, Sam, Jennifer, and Courtney all barrel racing, but seeing it live with pro women was still a major treat. These girls were as hot as their horses and in a muddy arena (we had a huge rainstorm this evening just before the rodeo) the winning time was still 17.95 seconds. That horse turned on a dime and gave a nickel change. What's more, second place was 17.97 seconds. Damn! From there the times of the dozen women riders went up to as much as 26 seconds after five second penalties were applied for knocking over the barrels.
Oh yes. Men rode bareback broncs, saddle broncs, roped calves, steer wrestled, and rode bulls. So what? Hot girls on hot horses. Hot damn!
ADDENDUM: In the stands I saw an incredible number of very hot cowgirls. Some, of course, were teenagers with their boyfriends wearing anything from very short shorts to pretty white dresses with lacy overlays--and cowgirl boots. Amazingly, though, were the number of hot young moms with two and three years old, none of whom looked to be twenty yet. Teenage sex--with intent--is very much alive and well on the Great Plains.
