Due to the interest expressed by some of my regular readers regarding the future exploits of Jack Greenaway I have stirred myself from the mire of indolence and loss of interest in writing to start DD3.
I'm about 16 chapters in and have rediscovered my pleasure in writing, so thanks for that. It is slow work …I spend more time cogitating rather than writing, which I hope will lead to a better written and presented story, but don't hold your breath.
I have also carried out some edits on DD1 and DD2. Characters names was the main focus in the feedback received, and several readers said that the incongruity of some names spoiled their reading experience. I had another think about it and decided to alter the names most frequently mentioned as being distracting, which were Arnold Schwarzenegger and Laurel and Hardy
I've changed those names and have also re designated the office where Jack Greenaway works … all purely cosmetic edits and no characters or plot devices have been added or replaced.
I have no estimated date of completion of DD3, but with 50,000+ words under my belt I'm not about to sink back into apathy. I aim to finish the rough draft within a couple of months and then it will be a question of how much editing is required before publishing on SOL.
As for Dewey … well ironically I've about 75% of the next book written. However this will be the last book in the series and I'm reluctant to say goodbye to the character who has developed into a mate of mine…sad innit?
He and I do share some characteristics; both born in east London, both support West Ham United Football Club, and both lust(ed) after Debby Harry. Other than that we are like chalk and cheese.
Thank you for your forebearance.
